Close Reading Seminar

I’ve developed a 1-hour workshop on how to read like a writer: one eye for pleasure, one eye on craft. We de-bone a short piece of work one sentence at a time, holding each up to the light. Such close examination and interrogation sharpens the way we both savor and learn from books—which in turn improves us as writers.

I’ll be doing private manuscript consults and my Close Reading seminar at the Community of Writers Summer Writers Workshops in Fiction, Nonfiction & Memoir at Olympic Valley, CA. This is a terrific conference, super-instructive and generous of spirit. Applications are due March 10; financial aid is available.
